Most Productivity Gurus Have Nothing to Show Us

Productivity is a means to an end, not a purpose.

The internet is filled with people teaching you how to be more productive. YouTubers teaching the latest framework for getting things done. People on Twitter giving away free Notion templates.

If you think Productivity is about that, you’re wrong.

It’s not about:

• Having more time for Netflix

• Learning how to read a book faster

• Showing off your time management skills

Productivity is about making things

It’s not about telling me how to make things.

Maybe I’m mean but I want the people that teach me about productivity to have something meaningful to show me as a result. I want CEOs to teach me how to manage my tasks. Or successful writers letting me know about their morning habits.

I would take productivity advice from Stephen King over “Student X teaches you how to prioritize” every day.

What’s your story?

So, let me know what’s the output.

What are you building? What have you accomplished? What differentiates you from the crowd?

Show me, don’t tell me!

I won’t take “Productivity Guru” or “Online business owner teaching you how to be productive”. But I will take:

• Senior Programmer who has time for his family

• Manufacturing business owner who exercises every day

• Mother of two who reads a book every week

Next time you listen to “tips on being Productive” take a moment and check out what the author accomplished. And only then press “Play”.
