Do you ever feel like the weeks go by without making too much (if any) progress on your goals?

Here’s how I use my experience in Agile Software Development to plan my life in Weekly Sprints. #Tweet100

🧵👇

Step #1: Set your weekly goal.

What do you want to accomplish this week?

Pick one goal where you want to make progress. You might choose a goal or a habit. For example: “read book X” or “exercise 5 days in a row”.

It’s your primary focus over the next 7 days.

Step #2: Plan your activities in the calendar.

You have the goal for the week.

Now you just need to list the steps or activities. Plan them for each or several days of the week. Put them in your calendar.

Block time for that, no interruptions.

Step #3: Have a Daily review

Each day think about your progress on that one goal.

• Did I do what I planned?

• What will I do today?

• Is something getting in my way?

If the answer to the last question is “yes” think about the alternatives.

Step #4: Have a Weekly review

On Sunday, check your results.

  • Did you do everything you planned for?
  • Are you closer to your goal?
  • If you didn’t make progress what were the reasons for this?

Write this down and think about solutions for the future.

Step #5: Repeat

Plan for your next Sprint.

  • Take the data you got from your last one.
  • Was your last goal too ambitious or just right?
  • What changes can you make in order to be more effective?

Pick the goal for the next Sprint and start over.

TL;DR — Here’s how you can plan your life in Weekly Sprints

  • Step #1: Set your weekly goal
  • Step #2: Plan your activities in the calendar.
  • Step #3: Have a Daily review
  • Step #4: Have a Weekly review
  • Step #5: Repeat
