3 Reasons Why Being Employed is a Good Idea and You Shouldn’t Quit Your Day Job Yet

Nowadays, everyone wants to be an entrepreneur.

“The Great Resignation” started in the US and echoes all over the world. In search of better working conditions and higher wages, people leave their jobs in search of a better future. And sometimes this better future means being an entrepreneur.

Some of them are wrong.

People see corporations as evil

Still, the working conditions were never better.

Somehow, we still think of the business owners as “greedy capitalists”. Unscrupulous people who want to make a fortune while exploiting you. Counting their money in the dark while you struggle to make ends meet.

Maybe I’m biased but the companies I work and worked for have nothing in common with this.

It’s the best time in history to be an employee

Because I’ve worked in technology all my life, I might be biased.

I first worked in a software engineering company and now I work in a Big 4. Of course, profit is still the main driver of all businesses. This is, after all, the main reason a company exists in the capitalist system.

But I felt esteemed in both companies.

And here are 3 reasons why I think it’s a good idea to work as an employee:

#1: Flexibility: After the pandemic, most companies got into a hybrid way of working with some of them even going full-remote. Most companies implemented flexible hours as well.

#2: Work-life balance. The myth of 14-hour shifts is now a myth. Most people work regular hours (sorry, doctors) and you have time for your family and even your side business

#3: Culture and environment. Working in a company among other people makes you feel part of a community and you will probably become friends with some of them

I’m not saying you shouldn’t pursue your dream of entrepreneurship, I’m only suggesting that the alternative is not as bad as some people make it seem.
